I had come to terms with saying goodbye to my Kenyan family. Honestly, it felt ok, it felt right, it was time. During our last tea time, I held up well until Anastasia called me humble. One word cracked open my heart and the tears poured from there. I didn't know in my heart how much I wanted to encapsulate that until she said it. From there, there was nothing more I could have hoped to have shared in my time. But, I can't give myself much credit, my Kenyan family humbled me.
With a little more than a scan of the passport and a hop, skip, and jump, i'm back on the other side of the ocean. Somehow, I had taken this trip abroad as some weird state of limbo, and assumed that when I returned, everything would be just as it was, including the subzero temperatures. Yet, time has moved, the sun gets up no matter where I am on the globe.
Rewind
I just want to take a moment to recap what we have done, what we need to do and how you can help. During my time we were able to construct a cover for the water tank, install all aspects of the pit latrines (including doors, electricity, plumbing, and a privacy wall), we did all our paint works (including sanding, the undercoat, and final coat of paint on the inside and outside), we finished plumbing inside the house, put glass into the veranda, started our quest for a borehole on site, and started our perimeter wall.
This past week we had our inspections from the public health authorities and the area advisory council which are required for opening. As we work on the paper work to get the center registered as a charitable children's home, we look forward at the perimeter wall and final inside furnishings that are in need inside.
Here is a look at some of the progress your donations have made happen...

Evolution from week 1 with glass installation and paint.
Start of the perimeter wall!
With the bulk of construction done, we can feel and see how much the center has progressed. We have raised 12,000 USD out of the 20,000 USD goal for the center. The remaining $8000 will construct most of the perimeter wall and contribute to furnishing the inside of the center.
How can you help? Share this and donate. I know many of you have donated, but please consider donating again! Every little bit helps and goes directly to our center. I want these kids... Judy, Victor, and Julius (seen below) tucked in safely and calling the center home. www.stayclassy.org/rescuecenter
